Tempo Sports Marketing Launches and Signs Four-Time World Triathlon Champion Leanda Cave

MIAMI, FL – May 14, 2015 – Tempo Sports Marketing, a sponsorship, athlete management and marketing agency offering a wide spectrum of services with meticulous focus, creativity and passion in every task launches today. Founded by Lou Cantin, Tempo Sports Marketing has more than 30 years of combined experience in business development, marketing, public relations and sponsorship.

“Our goal at Tempo Sports Marketing is to have an exclusive roster of athletes who understand the intricacies of today’s sponsorship world and who want to make a difference in their community,” said Lou Cantin, principal, Tempo Sports Marketing.

In conjunction with the company’s official launch, Tempo Sports Marketing announces its first client, four-time world champion triathlon champion Leanda Cave. Tempo Sports Marketing will manage Cave’s commercial and philanthropic activities.

Born in Louth, England, Cave has been competing in triathlons since 1994. She made her international debut with silver medal finishes at the 2002 Commonwealth Games and at the European Championships. Cave earned her first world title at the 2002 ITU World Championships in Cancun, Mexico.

Cave transitioned into Olympic distance triathlons and gradually made her way to dominating the long-course triathlon. Cave now holds world titles spanning all four major triathlon distances. In 2012, Cave became the only female triathlete to win the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship and IRONMAN World Championship in the same year. Following her successes in the IRONMAN championships, Cave was recognized by CNN as one of the “World’s Fittest Women.” Cave now holds four world titles spanning all four major triathlon distances.

Cave has received numerous awards throughout her professional career. She’s a two-time recipient of the Welsh Sports Personality of the Year Award (2002 and 2012); the 2012 Endurance LIVE Female Athlete of the Year Award; and the 2013 British Gold Pin Award, recognizing her significance and long standing contribution to triathlon.

“There are rare times in your business career when you have the opportunity to work with someone who endeavors to make the most of everything and Leanda does that,” continues Cantin. “Leanda is a champion in a greater sense of the word than just winning races. She is an ambassador and spokesperson for her partners, understands the products she represents, and is very savvy about the commercial realities each partner faces. Leanda is a well-rounded athlete and philanthropist and it is an honor to work with an individual that gives back to her community.”

In 2014, Cave and Cantin raised more than $30,000 for St. Jude’s Hospital, the UnitedHealthcare Children’s foundation and Best Buddies International.

“I pride myself on my performance and image in the sport of triathlon,” said Cave. “I set the bar high and I also expect a lot from those who work with me to bring their best qualities to the table. For this reason I am 100 percent behind all my sponsors and their products. It takes a very dedicated person/company to ensure that I am supported by the best companies who provide the highest quality products so that I can maximize my performance. This is why I chose to work with Lou Cantin and Tempo Sports Marketing.”

For the last two years, Cantin and Cave worked together on promotional initiatives with mutual corporations. Through those business relationships, the two discovered a similar philosophy of business and began to develop a strategy for Cave and her upcoming projects.

“We have a great professional relationship both in and out of the triathlon sporting arena,” continues Cave. “Lou brings his experience in the world of corporate marketing to create new and exciting initiatives that generates interest and exposure for me and my sponsors.”
